چکیده
s We study finite size effects of the d=3 XY model in terms of the chiral perturbation theory. We calculate by Monte Carlo simulations physical quantities which are, to order of (1/L), uniquely determined only by two low energy constants. They are the magnetization and the helicity modulus (or the Goldstone boson decay constant) in infinite volume. We also pay a special attention to the region of the validity of the two possible expansions in the theory. * e-mail:[email protected] ** e-mail:[email protected]

Finite size effects on M π in QCD from Chiral Perturbation
We present a determination of the shift Mπ(L) − Mπ due to the finite spatial box size L by means of N f = 2 Chiral Perturbation Theory and Lüscher's formula. The range of applicability of the chiral prediction is discussed.
متن کاملThe nucleon mass in N f = 2 lattice QCD : finite size effects from chiral perturbation theory
In the framework of relativistic SU(2)f baryon chiral perturbation theory we calculate the volume dependence of the nucleon mass up to and including O(p4). Since the parameters in the resulting finite size formulae are fixed from the pion mass dependence of the large volume nucleon masses and from phenomenology, we obtain a parameter-free prediction of the finite size effects. We present mass d...
متن کاملVolume dependence of the pion mass
Volume effects on meson masses are important for understanding the results of QCD lattice simulations, which are still limited to large meson masses and small volumes. Such finite volume effects have been studied in different approaches [2, 3, 4], mainly using chiral perturbation theory (chPT) . Since quark effects involving higher momentum scales also seem to play a role [5], we study the pion...
متن کاملFinite-size effects of dimensional crossover in quasi-two- dimensional three-state Potts model
A nearest neighbour spin pair of the quasi-two-dimensional three-state Potts model interacts with the strength J(> 0) in the xy-plane and with λJ (0 ≤ λ ≪ 1) in the z-axis. The phase transition is of second-order when λ = 0 and is of first-order when λ > 0. The dimensional crossover occurs with a change of the order of the phase transition. We study the finite-size effects of the phenomenon by ...
متن کاملFinite-volume meson propagators in quenched chiral perturbation theory
Recent progress in the formulation of chiral fermions on the lattice makes it possible to approach the regime of the physical light quark masses. However, lattice volumes V = L needed to ensure negligible finite size effects are prohibitively large for such light quarks. Only when L is very large compared to the Compton wavelength of the lightest particles of the theory (i.e. the pions) are the...
